What we collect
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is cookieless, collects no personally identifiable information, and does not fingerprint or track visitors across sites. It records aggregated metrics like pageviews, country, browser, and referrer. Because it does not store or access information on your device, it runs on a legitimate-interest basis without requiring consent.
We maintain a per-article view counter stored on Cloudflare's edge (D1 database). It is first-party, cookieless, and records only the article slug and a view count — no IP addresses, user agents, or any identifier that could link a view to a specific person. It also runs on a legitimate-interest basis.
To count distinct readers per article, we store a single
anonymous random ID in your browser's
localStorage under the key dt_vid. It contains
no personal information, is generated locally on your device, and is
deleted when you clear site data. Setting dt_notrack=1
(via the admin "Don't track me" toggle, or manually as a cookie) opts
you out of all of this — neither the view counter nor the localStorage
ID is written.
Cookies and consent
We use one sessionStorage entry per article slug to prevent
double-counting a view on reload. It is cleared when you close the tab.
We do not set tracking cookies, and — because this site runs no ads —
no third-party ad cookies or identifiers are set on your visit.
Advertising
This site is ad-free. We serve no third-party ad code, set no advertising cookies or identifiers, and share no data with ad networks.
External links
Articles frequently link to external sources (press rooms, social media, other publications). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of external sites.
